Airfare Too High? Senior Citizens Should Consider an All-Expenses-Included Cruise

Most cruise liners offer lodging, meals and basic entertainment in an all-inclusive rate that represents a significant savings for seniors watching their budgets

By: Jessica Runberg

Aug. 22, 2008 - With airline prices on the rise, senior citizens are looking for new ways to get creative with their travel dollars. Although there are still a few deals to be found on air travel, more senior citizens are turning to Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, and Carnival cruises to realize a savings that comes from taking an all expenses included vacation.

Despite a slowing economy, competition in the cruising industry remains fierce and deals are plentiful.

Most cruise liners offer lodging, meals and basic entertainment in an all-inclusive rate that represents a significant savings compared to taking a trip that charges for each aspect of the vacation separately.

Additionally, discounts are often given to senior citizens ages 55 and older.

Cruises are ideal vacations for seniors who want the convenience of having all aspects of their vacation taken care of in a one-stop shop. Cruise line operators arrange everything in advance (including off-shore excursions) and no rental cars are necessary. It’s a worry-free alternative to the typical do-it-yourself vacation.

Many senior citizens prefer cruises over air or car travel because it allows them to see and do more than would otherwise be possible. A cruise to Hawaii, for example, may allow seniors to visit all five islands, which would otherwise prove logistically difficult.

With lodging and dining conveniently located in the same location each evening, seniors get all the excitement that comes from traveling to multiple destinations, but also with all the comforts of home.

Sound like a dream vacation?

Well, you’re in luck because there is no greater time to take a cruise than during the summertime.

One of the best deals we’ve found is Carnival Cruise Line’s Celebration of Summer promotion. For the entire month of July, Carnival Cruise Line is offerioffered a promotion a day in honor of summer to exciting destinations such as the Mexican Rivera, South America and more!.

If it’s the world you want to explore, check out Royal Caribbean International for their exciting summer deals to one or more of their 38 ports, conveniently located on all seven continents.

This summer, Royal Caribbean is offering fabulous deals to the Caribbean, from the Florida Keys down to Panama and from the Yucatan over to Barbados.

Meanwhile, Princess Cruise Line is offering a tempting package to Alaska, and if it’s luxury you’re seeking, be sure to check out Celebrity Cruise Line’s classic European itineraries.

So save yourself some money (and the hassle of planning a traditional vacation) and begin planning your dream get-away today!
