New Online Tool Claims One-Click Comparison of
Medicare Drug Plans
Broker sponsored site says tool compares plan
quality ratings, popularity, features
Dec. 10, 2007 - There is a new tool online at
Medicare-PartD.com, which offers a unique one-click comparison of the
2008 Part D prescription drug plans. The site sponsored by National
Insurance Markets, an insurance broker, calls the new tool PDP-Compare.
PDP-Compare incorporates CMS plan quality ratings,
enrollment data, and Part D plan features into one view, according to a
company news release. PDP-Compare also allows users to easily compare
various features of 2007 Part D plans directly with 2008 plans.

PDP-Compare was designed especially for Medicare
beneficiaries and Medicare support groups who are seeking the broadest
overview of Part D plans in their enrollment area, according to the news
release.
The new Part D plan comparison tool also helps
people quickly see how their current 2007 Part D prescription drug plan
changes in 2008. PDP-Compare is available at no cost and can be found
at:
Medicare-PartD.com/PDP-Compare.php.
This tool incorporates the Part D plan quality
ratings developed from survey information gathered by the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The plan rating is based on a
system whereby prescription drug plans are awarded up to five stars for
particular categories of quality, such as customer service and ease of
filling a prescription.
The regional Part D enrollment information used in
PDP-Compare underscores the popularity of individual Part D plans and is
presented by Part D region, average per region, and total plan
enrollment for all Part D regions.
"We enhanced our Part D comparison tool to create
PDP-Compare which provides users with a comprehensive view of Part D
plans," notes Dr. Susan Johnson, who is responsible for the technical
development of Medicare-PartD.com.
"PDP-Compare is the only place where users can find
Plan IDs, cost sharing information, CMS plan quality ratings, past
enrollment figures, doughnut hole coverage, and whether the plan
qualifies for the state's $0 premium low-income subsidy -- all in one
view."
"We have also added a sorting function in PDP-Compare
so that users can quickly see the most popular Part D plans sorted by
2007 enrollments, the best or worst overall CMS rated plans, or just the
lowest monthly premiums," adds Dr. Johnson.
PDP-Compare was also designed to help Low-Income
Subsidy (LIS) recipients who need to quickly see if their current Part D
plan will continue to be covered by the state's monthly premium subsidy
in 2008.
For example, LIS recipients in Texas can see that
three Part D plans offering the Low-Income Subsidy in 2007 do not
qualify as $0 premium LIS plans in 2008 - and six new Texas Part D plans
now qualify as 2008 $0 premium LIS plans.
"PDP-Compare
is a great compliment to our other tools such as our
PDP-Finder and
PDP-Planner," notes Dr. Johnson.
"We created this tool based on suggestions from our
online community and we welcome further suggestions for new Medicare
tools."
