Amusing Your Kids with Those Coin-Operated Kiddie Rides - Now Available
Again
You can do it for you grandkids by buying one from
restoration company
June 6, 2008 - Whatever happened to those
coin-operated rides you use to use to put a dime or quarter in decades
ago to keep your kids happy? Well, some grandparents are now starting
to purchase these icons for their homes and their grandchildren,
according to Kiddie Rides USA.
When purchased for home use, the real question is
who likes them better? The grandkids because they’re a 60-second thrill
ride, or the grandparents because it becomes a unique piece of home
décor and/or because of their own fond memories of riding a kiddie ride
when they were youngsters. At least that’s part of the marketing pitch
from the restoration company.
Kiddie Rides USA is located in Denver and restores
these nostalgic icons. KRUSA claims to be the only stand alone kiddie
ride company left in America.
KRUSA says that although these relics are popular
with grandparents they also are being purchased by professionals – like
doctors and dentists – for their offices, companies that want to put
bring back the nostalgia and just old fashioned collectors.
When a themed kiddie ride matches a personal
passion or corporate image - bingo! For example,
● a Ghostbuster memoribilia collector purchased a Ghostbuster ride,
● a pilot purchased an airplane kiddie ride for his grandchildren,
● or the man who bought his wife a dolphin kiddie ride because she
was crazy about dolphins.
With the vast array of rides created over the
years, it is surprising just how fitting a ride can be for someone’s
specific interest.
For
over half a century, kiddie rides have captured pop culture in
miniature. There have been hundreds, if not thousands, of different
kiddie rides molded into all shapes, sizes, and cartoon characters over
the years, sayks KRUSA.
They are equal parts 60-second amusement ride for
kids and nostalgic American icons for adults.
At Kiddie Rides USA, they often customize rides to
be even more personal. For example , they recently “branded” a horse
with a gentleman’s initials – a monogrammed kiddie ride.
They’ve painted rides to look exactly like
high-priced prized stallions and to make miniature replicas of cherished
automobiles and boats.
An Oklahoma Sooner fan asked to have a covered
wagon customized into a “Sooner Schooner”.
There are a large number of rides available on
their Website but you have to contact KRUSA to get a price.
